Smurfs High Five

A decent week, not too many titles that you feel overloaded or too little that you find yourself looking to pick up something so your stack isn’t so light (or am I the only one that does that). There is lots to choose from and noteworthy titles like Domino, Plasticman, FF, and the return of Iceman should also get a look. Lots for everyone but don’t wait to hit your local shop here is Smurfs High Five.

infinity wars 3Infinity Wars #3> WHO ARE THE INFINITY WARPS?
With Requiem tearing through the Marvel Universe, Loki whispering around its fringes and a new threat looming to devour everything, the very fabric of reality warps around the heroes of Earth… and the only way through winds through infinity itself! (S) Gerry Duggan (A/CA) Mike Deodato

journey mystery 1Journey into Mystery Birth of Krakoa #1> As World War II draws to a close, Sergeant Fury and his Howling Commandos face a mission unlike any other they’ve ever tackled… and a menace that will haunt them forever! (S) Dennis Hopeless (A) Djibril Morissette-Phan (CA) Greg Smallwood

Smurfs Take> Funny; I was having a conversation the other day about old war comics. I know how difficult a title like this can be because they always want the characters to team up. I miss just a good story with the feel of an old WWII/Sci-Fi mashup. The perfect mix of nostalgia and mystery to pull the reader in, looks like I am about to have my wish.

superman #3SuperMan #3> Guest-starring the Justice League! Locked inside the Phantom Zone, the Earth stands poisoned and its heroes lie dying, with no idea how to escape the deadly Kryptonian trap. But an even deadlier threat invades as Rogol Zaar teams with those who have been imprisoned inside the Phantom Zone to use Earth to escape, not caring if they destroy the planet to do it. (S) Brian Michael Bendis (A/CA) Joe Prado, Ivan Reis

Smurfs Take> I am not a Superman fan. There have been some good runs, stories that I have really enjoyed but it is not a title that I look to pick up every month and usually skip past. That has not been the case for this one. So far this has been a great read, Prado’s art has been on point and I am completely entertained. Maybe this book is hitting me at the right time. Maye the perfect union of art and story returning to the basics. What ever it is I’m in.

Vader #21Star Wars Darth Vader #21> “FORTRESS VADER,” PART 3
DARTH VADER returns to the place of his birth as he seeks the path to his destiny. Echoes from the past reach out to him – both from his own, and from the dark history of the SITH. (S) Charles Soule (CA) Elia Bonetti (A/CA) Giuseppe Camuncoli

CemetaryBeach_01-1Cemetery Beach #1> From the creators of the acclaimed TREES graphic novels, which are currently being adapted for television, comes something completely different. A professional pathfinder, his only ally a disaffected young murderess, breaks out of a torture cell in pursuit of his worst extraction scenario ever: escaping on foot across a sprawling and secret off-world colony established a hundred years ago and filled with generations of lunatics. WARREN ELLIS & JASON HOWARD ignite a high-speed new action serial. (S) Warren Ellis (A) Jason Howard

Smurfs Take> I love Ellis story telling. I am never sure what I am going to get or in store for but I do know at the end I have an emotional response.
