It’s the bad boys of Marvel this week topping the hits and a midnight release to kick it off. Here are Smurfs High Fives #NewComicsDay #Marvel #Image #Wolverine #SmurfsTake #5280Geek
Return of Wolverine #1> HE’S BACK, BUB. (S) Charles Soule (A/CA) Steve McNiven
Smurfs Take> Did he ever truly leave? His end was….well tough to put into words. Poetic? Peaceful? But he was never far and Old Man Logan was still running around. To be honest there is no greater icon in the Marvel Universe than Wolverine. You can say Cap or Spidey maybe a stretch and say Hulk, but there is no beating the little furball. And now we get the answers to all our questions, the rest of the story. Just how do you come back from a tomb of Adamantium holding an Infinity Stone?
Venom #6> After a brief connection to the GOD-HOST, EDDIE and the VENOM symbiote have emerged with brand new powers! A good thing too, as they’ll need every upgrade they can get as they head down a collision course with the primordial symbiote GRENDEL! (S) Donny Cates (A/CA) Ryan Stegman
Smurfs Take> I can’t tell you how surprised I am by this title. I really thought I would have lost interest by now or the story would have gotten to the point that I just couldn’t take it any longer. I was soooo wrong. Maybe they have learned a few things along the way with Agent Venom and time with the Guardians. This has been a solid story and fun character development for Eddie.
Seven to Eternity #11> The Mosak are on Adam Osidis and the Mud King’s trail, led by the best tracker in all of Zhal: Adam’s own daughter. (S) Rick Remender (A/CA) Jerome Opena
Smurfs Take> Massive world building. Complex and strange characters. Still angry about the main character? You bet I am and when you can get that kind of emotional response you must be doing something right.
Avengers #8> “WORLD TOUR” PART ONE
In the aftermath of their world-shaking battle against the Dark Celestials, the new Avengers team is officially formed, complete with a startling new headquarters at the top of the world. Behold the wonders of Avengers Mountain. But someone who doesn’t seem impressed is Namor, the ferocious lord of Atlantis, whose rage may turn the oceans red with blood! (S) Jason Aaron (A/CA) David Marquez
Smurfs Take> Loved the first story arc, great team. I think Cap just likes being driven around in a car with flaming tires.
Amazing Spider-Man annual #1> TIES THAT BIND!
Years ago, Spider-Man came back from an alien world with a fantastic new costume – one he eventually learned was a living alien symbiote looking to bond with him permanently! But before he rejected the costume that went on to become VENOM, many a night the symbiote would creep onto Peter, and unbeknownst to its host, take them out into the night!
Now, for the first time, see just what the symbiote steered Peter into during these mysterious nighttime excursions! Saladin Ahmed (BLACK BOLT) weaves an ALL-NEW nightmare fairy tale, illustrated by the incomparable Garry Brown, in what is sure to be a dream book for any Spider-Man fan! (S) Saladin Ahmed (A) Garry Brown (CA) Aco
Smurfs Take> I tend to avoid the annuals. Dull stories, silly concepts and just not interested. This however peaked my interest, I love the idea of a new creepy story, it’s been so long.
