Smurfs High Five

#NewComicsDay New week and a new High Five from Smurf. On top of all of these don’t miss out on the end of Cosmic Ghost Rider and Plasticman. War is still raging in Spider-Man, Vader gets a new house, and Fred is alive. All this and more awaits you at the local comic shop.

black Order #1Black Order #1> FROM THE INFINITY WAR INTO THEIR OWN LIMITED SERIES!
They are the five dreadlords, the Cull Obsidian, Thanos’ most feared warriors and disciples… Ruthless villains to a one, the Black Order has been dispatched by the Grandmaster to destabilize a burgeoning empire, and along the way they come to realize that as big and as bad as they are, there is always someone bigger and badder… The bombastic writing style of novelist Derek Landy (Skulduggery Pleasant) and the electrifying artwork of Philip Tan combine for an absolutely unhinged super-villain adventure! (S) Derek Landy (A/CA) Philip Tan

Smurfs Take> When Thanos showed up with Generals I was annoyed. Thanos doesn’t need help caring out orders; he just does it. He can conquer a planet on his own and doesn’t need this cannon fodder. I was so wrong. The Black Order was a stroke of genius, as if he recruited living aspects of the Infinity Stones. The little glimpse we have seen is awesome; cant wait to see what the full picture looks like. Book of the Year right here!

Avengers #10Avengers #10> THE EARTH’S MOST HATED HEROES?!
After 700 issues of saving the world, you’d think the Avengers would be due some celebration. But instead the whole world seems to be gunning for them, especially Namor’s fearsome new Defenders of the Deep and the reimagined Russian Super-Soldiers of the Winter Guard. And that’s not to mention the shocking surprise the U.S. government has in store for our heroes. Plus: The all-new Agents of Wakanda! The mystery of the Avengers of 1,000,000 BC deepens! A key revelation concerning the resurrection of Wolverine! And the next startling new Avenger is revealed! (S) Jason Aaron (A) Ed McGuinness, Adam Kubert, Andrea Sorrentino (A/CA) David Marquez

Smurfs Take> Great team, awesome story! This is what the Avengers are all about and every team book compared to. Do not skip over this title, you will regret it.

Uncanny #1Uncanny X-Men #1> THE CHILDREN OF THE ATOM ARE BACK!
New ongoing series kicking off with a 10-part weekly epic, the flagship X-Men series that started it all is back and better than ever! Starting with a mysterious and tragic disappearance, the X-Men are drawn into what might be…their final adventure?! X-Fan favorite writers Ed Brisson (EXTERMINATION), Matthew Rosenberg (PHOENIX RESURRECTION) and Kelly Thompson (MR. & MRS. X) and all-star artists Mahmud Asrar (X-MEN RED), R.B. Silva (X-MEN BLUE), Yildiray Cinar (WEAPON X) and Pere Pérez (ROGUE AND GAMBIT) join forces to bring you…X-MEN DISASSEMBLED?! (S) Ed Brisson, Kelly Thompson, Matthew Rosenberg (A) Mahmud A. Asrar, Mark Bagley, Mirko Colak (CA) Leinil Francis Yu

Smurfs Take> Now that the X-Men film rights have come home to Marvel we are starting to see a more attentive approach to their titles. I don’t know if that is going to help fix the damage that has already been done. I like Kitty being in charge, X-Men Gold has been a refreshing change to a rather flat choice in X-Titles. To be honest I gave up on the X-Men with the end of the first series. It went to a place and feel I didn’t recognize or like. I can only hope this will bring back a team and story worthy of the X-Men name.

superman #5Superman #5> What could tempt Kryptonian criminal General Zod to reenter the Phantom Zone after years of imprisonment? As Superman tries to free himself from the Kryptonian jail and fight off the monster who destroyed Krypton, Zod returns to face Rogol Zaar and get vengeance for his dead world and its lost potential. (S) Brian Michael Bendis (A/CA) Joe Prado, Ivan Reis

Smurfs Take> ZOD! That is all

flash #58Flash #58> “FORCE QUEST” part one! Following “Flash War,” Barry Allen remains the Flash, but he’s no longer the Fastest Man Alive! With Hunter Zolomon on the run, and new forces such as the Strength, Sage and Still Forces unleashed on the Multiverse, Barry must leave Central City behind and travel the world to learn the secret history of the Speed Force. (S) Joshua Williamson (A) Rafa Sandoval (CA) Rafael Sandoval (A/CA) Jordi Tarragona

Smurfs Take> Flash has been a constant great read. A perfect blend of story and classic feel with the right mix of the Rogues Gallery. Now I wonder how they are going to explore the Seep Force. We have seen multiple takes on it, hell Barry and Wally were part of it. So to think there is still a secret to it is exciting. I wonder if we will also get more on Max Mercury?
