Smurfs High Five

#NewComicsDay at last! Everyone is closing out their stories for the year and some series come to an end. So many good books and only space for five with Smurfs top picks this week but don’t forget The Warning from Image. Spider-Geddon, Batman, and Dead Man Logan also hit this week.

Infinity Wars 6Infinity Wars #6> INFINITY’S END. (S) Gerry Duggan (A/CA) Mike Deodato

Smurfs Take> Does absolute power corrupt absolutely? What if you are already a little crazy to start with and a God to top it off? I have really enjoyed this series, lots off twist and turns with Loki the one to come out on top a decent surprise. Will it be a strong finish?

middlewest-2Middlewest #2> Stowaways! As Abel and Fox tumble out of Farmington they must quickly land on their feet. The protections of home are gone and they find themselves in a hungry, wild new world. (S) Skottie Young (A) Jorge Corona

Smurfs Take> Number one has gone to a third print and with good reason. This book is fantastic! There is a certain kind of feel you get when you are completely pulled into comic. You know what I am talking about and this has that feel and then some. I don’t want to  give anything away on this book but trust me you need it.

punisher 5Punisher #5> IN THE ARMS OF THE HYDRA!
Alone and hunted, Hydra gets its tentacles around Frank. The price for all Frank’s recent actions comes due.The ending of this issue changes the entire game. (S) Matthew Rosenberg (A) Szymon Kudranski (CA) Greg Smallwood

Smurfs Take> Hail Hydra? They are going to need everything they have to get Frank. So good so clever, and so what this title has been looking for.

Justice League #14Justice League #14> Let’s take a trip to “Hawkworld” in part one of a new Totality-related storyline! Martian Manhunter, John Stewart and Hawkgirl avoided “Drowned Earth” with a detour to Thanagar-Prime: J’onn looks to tap into the ancient Martian mental database, GL struggles while practicing his new UV powers, and Kendra searches for answers about her connection to the Totality. (S) James TynionIV, Scott Snyder (A) Stephen Segovia, Mark Morales (A/CA) Jim Cheung

Smurfs Take> Ahhhh, the rest of the story. I feel like we don’t get enough of Hawkworld. Even the thought grants visions of just this brutal world. This series has been on point since issue one and is one of best team books on the shelf.

Vader 25Star Wars Darth Vader #25> FORTRESS VADER: FINALE!
The FORTRESS is complete. The door will be opened. VADER finds everything he has ever desired.THE DARK LORD gets everything he deserves. (S) Charles Soule (CA) Elia Bonetti (A/CA) Giuseppe Camuncoli

Smurfs Take> What can I say that I haven’t already? Vader hits issue 25 and I have no doubts is going to be as stunning as the last 24 issues. I can’t get enough of the Dark Lord and watching him evolve into the terrifying character we see in New Hope is a treat.
