#NewComicsDay has blown in once again. If you are here in Colorado you might want to get in the shop early before snowmageddon hits. Here are Smurfs High Five for this week, guaranteed to keep you entertained. Sponsored by All C’s Collectibles.
Maxx 100 Page Giant> Sam Kieth’s The Maxx is one of the quirkiest characters ever conceived in comics. Beautiful, touching stories, crafted by one of our most innovative storytellers, this oversized book culls together a sampling from throughout The Maxx’s run, offering a perfect place to get reacquainted with an old friend or an excellent chance to delve into a world like no other for the first time! (S) Sam Keith (A/CA) Sam Kieth
Smurfs Take> I am surprised that over the Years we haven’t seen as much of the Maxx as I would have liked. The character is great and so odd. The TV show was fantastic and would love to see it return. The way the character story and art all mesh together makes it one of the most perfect books on the stand.
Batman Who Laughs the Grim Knight #1> Ripped from Batman’s greatest nightmares, the Grim Knight is his world’s most dangerous vigilante, unafraid to use any weapon and go to any lengths to stop those whom he deems worthy of death. Trained with the finest arsenal Wayne money can buy, learn the secret origin of the second-deadliest Batman, hand selected by the Batman Who Laughs to bring his dark plans to fruition. This one-shot has a big 28-page story! (S) Scott Snyder, James TynionIV (A) Eduardo Risso (CA) Jock
Smurfs Take> Holy Hell! If there is one thing I have learned about these kind of one shots is. It’s going to be one brutal story. Grim Knight is one of those characters I don’t know if I want to have a back story for. Doesn’t mean I wont look.
Amazing Spider-Man #17> “HUNTED” PART 1
We’ve been teasing a huge Kraven story since ASM #1 – and “HUNTED” is here to deliver it! Sergei Kravinoff and his minions have been kidnapping animal-themed characters for months, but they need one more to complete the collection – the Spider. But what does Kraven even want with all of them?! Find out in “HUNTED”! (S) Nick Spencer (A/CA) Humberto Ramos
Smurfs Take> It has all been hinted at and it is here. Kraven! I am all excited and worried at once. Nick’s track record for me isn’t that great and maybe this is a shot at redemption but as I said before is it a story we need.
Superman #9> The secrets of the house of El are revealed as the Unity Saga continues! Traveling through space, young Jon Kent has faced everything the universe could throw at him, but after an accident sends him and his grandfather Jor-El across dimensions, the new Superboy comes face to face with a terrifyingly evil version of his own father: Ultraman and his horrible version of the Justice League, the Crime Syndicate! Find out what happened to Superman’s father and how Jon made it back home from this strange and crime-ridden alternate world. (S) Brian Michael Bendis (A) Brandon Peterson (A/CA) Joe Prado, Ivan Reis
Smurfs Take> You need to be reading this! That is all!
Punisher #9> ONE-MAN WAR IN BAGALIA!
Frank’s war on Bagalia gets bloodier! But Zemo’s not going down without a fight. Violence! Chaos! Punishment! We’d say it’s criminal what we’re getting away with, but then Frank might come after us too! (S) Matthew Rosenberg (A) Szymon Kudranski (CA) Greg Smallwood
