#NewComicsDay is here! I know Smurf is already out to get his haul but he left a #top5 list that you should consider adding to your own. We are sponsored by All C’S Collectibles who is giving you a 10% discount if you mention us and can help with all your pull list needs. Now it’s time to see what caught the little blue guys eye.
Middlewest #6> A messenger arrives with news of the storm brewing in Abel and Fox’s wake. Maggie’s carnival has changed its schedule to stay ahead of the tempest as Abel’s debt is paid and he’s offered the chance to choose his future. (S) Skottie Young (A) Jorge Corona
Smurfs Take> Later this week I will be posting my interview with Jorge so please keep an eye out for it. I think this is a magnificent title and should be on every ones pull list. This will be a classic, this will be the title that people say they had to go back and get all the issues. The world building is great, the characters dynamic, and the art stunning. Do not leave this on the shelf!
War of Realms #2> The world at war! AS THE BATTLE FOR NEW YORK CITY CONTINUES, A HERO FALLS!
All the heroes of the Marvel Universe have assembled, yet this still might not be enough to stop Malekith’s endless war. And the one hero who could turn the tide…is stranded where no one can reach him. With Thor trapped in the land of the Frost Giants and the forces of Earth overwhelmed, Black Panther, Jane Foster and Doctor Strange make a desperate gamble. Valhalla awaits… (S) Jason Aaron (A) Russell Dauterman (CA) Arthur Adams, Matthew Wilson
Smurfs Take> Now this is a fight I can get behind! The first issue and Journey into Mystery were stellar. I love everyone caught off guard and flat footed as the world is invaded. I have grown a little worn out with the invaders from space, one race or another coming to put us in our place. This is just come, conquer, and leave nothing standing! The heroes for the first time in a while are out matched even if they don’t hold anything back.
Guardians of the Galaxy #4> THE DARK GUARDIANS!
The Dark Guardians, a new cosmic hit squad made up of the most powerful and cunning people in space, are going to kill Gamora. It’s time for the new Guardians of the Galaxy to saddle up! (S) Donny Cates (A) Geoff Shaw (CA) David Marquez
Smurfs Take> I wasn’t expecting this. I don’t know if I like this. I do miss my Guardians and while I am enjoying the new ones I can’t help but wonder why. It has the making of all the elements that I love when it comes to this team with a couple exceptions. And of course now we are going to go and hunt that down and try and kill it. Infinity War ended just like we all thought and there are things to resolve from it but in some cases I wished they could be a tad more original.
East of West #42> “RISK”
Things draw to a close on the Earthly plane. (S) Jonathan Hickman (A/CA) Nick Dragotta
Smurfs Take> The book that has been a joy since day one and I wonder how many more can there be to come. That is the thing I love the most about Image, they know how to run a story. Hickman has been flawless, who knew the end of the Earth could be so much fun.
Amazing Spider-Man #19> “HUNTED” TIE-IN!
With Kraven gathering up all the animal-themed villains for the grandest hunt of all, Lizard has a target on his back!
But the Lizard has a plan of his own– and it involves something truly terrifying! (S) Nick Spencer (A) Chris Bachalo (CA) Greg Land
Smurfs Take> I have been waiting for the Lizard to get more involved and in the back of my mind secretly wishing that this would end up like Torment. This has been a good story so far, nothing like the Cap debacle. It’s a good read and I wonder what the fallout will be but have enjoyed it so far.
