Batman Who Laughs #5> It’s a battle to the death as Batman goes head-to-head with the Grim Knight! The Caped Crusader is forced to not only fight off the most evil version of himself, but the growing desire to turn his back on his moral code and commit cold-blooded murder. Any other time, Batman would be able to stay on the straight and narrow, but as the Joker serum finally takes over his body, Bruce Wayne may just succumb to pure evil, and kill the Grim Knight. All of this is foreseen by the Batman Who Laughs, who has been planning for the corruption of Bruce Wayne, banking on him activating the “Last Laugh” protocol and turning Gotham City into an incubator for evil. All the Batman Who Laughs needs is one last “Happy Bruce” from another dimension to make his serum work…but only Batman knows where the last Bruce is going to show up. (S) Scott Snyder (A/CA) Jock
Smurfs Take> A series so good they added another book to it. The runaway hit that keeps on surprising you and there is more to come. With the Grimm Knight the reason behind the Summer of Evil coming from DC I am sure it is only going to more intense.
Conan The Barbarian #6> CONAN signs on for soldiers’ work – gold, wine and warfare! But the Barbarian’s skills will draw him directly into the CRIMSON WITCH’s scheme, as she drags KING CONAN to the altar of the death god Razazel! Plus: The next chapter in the all-new CONAN novella, “Black Starlight”! (S) Jason Aaron (A) Mahmud A. Asrar (CA) Esad Ribic
Smurfs Take> Perfect series, perfect art, and perfect character!
Star Wars Boba Fett #1> THE HUNTER’S HEART!
As the implacable bounty hunter who tracked down HAN SOLO, BOBA FETT earned his reputation as one of the greatest villains in the galaxy.
But what happens when Boba Fett picks up the trail of an actual villain?
Find out what kind of heart – if any – beats under that MANDALORIAN armor! (S) Greg Pak (A) Marc Laming (CA) Terry Dodson, Rachel Dodson
Smurfs Take> Can you ever have too much Boba Fett? Looking forward to the new Mandalorian series coming out and this just seems perfect to go along with it. Another character that we really know nothing about but has made an impact stretching over generations.
Flash #70> “The Flash Year One” starts here! Barry Allen feels helpless in his life in Central City. As a forensic scientist, he’s always catching criminals after they’ve committed their crimes. All that changes one fateful night when Barry is struck by a bolt of lightning and doused in chemicals. When he wakes from a coma, he realizes he can run at incredible speeds. Can Barry master these powers and be the hero his city needs…or will the powers burn through him? (S) Joshua Williamson (A/CA) Howard Porter
Smurfs Take> When it comes to the Flash I have always been a Wally guy. Over the years since they brought him back and reworked a lot of the DC world Barry has started to grow on me. Might also be in part to the show as well but they have defiantly incorporated some of Wally into the character. The book has been solid with great stories and spectacular art. Do we need a retelling of Barry’s past? I don’t know but what they have been doing so far has worked really well so who am I to argue.
Samurai Jack Lost Worlds #1> “Samurai Jack 2.0”! Under the leadership of the benevolent Samurai Jack, society has prospered-everything is in line with his philosophies, his storied stoicism, and of course his hair. Of course, this is all news to Jack who doesn’t much care for this impostor using his name. But which one is the real Samurai Jack?
A bold new miniseries from Paul Allor (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Universe,Clue) and Adam Bryce Thomas (Sonic the Hedgehog)!
A new Samurai Jack adventure in every issue! (S) Paul Allor (A/CA) Adam Bryce Thomas
Smurfs Take> I don’t know what it is but I just love this character. Jack so complex and honor driven to do the right thing, even at the cost of his own benefit. He may be a guilty pleasure for me but I thoroughly enjoy his stories. Also hear Phil LaMarrs voice when I read it might also have something to do with it as well.
