Smurfs High Five

#NewComicsDay I can get use to having my comics available for pickup at midnight. While everyone was focused on the Carnage release was able to pick up Hulk, Daredevil, and Cosmic Ghost Rider. It’s been an enjoyable morning so far, and here are Smurfs #Top5 to help you with yours if you didn’t make it out last night. All this sponsored by our buddies over at All C’s Collectibles.

absolute carnage 1Absolute Carnage #1> After turning Venom’s world upside down a year ago, DONNY CATES and RYAN STEGMAN are about to put the Sinister Symbiote through hell again, only this time CARNAGE has come calling, and everyone who’s ever worn a symbiote is dead in his sights! He’s skirted the periphery of the Marvel Universe for months, but Cletus Kasady at last stands poised to make his grand return to New York in a blistering 60-PAGE story… and he wants to paint the town red! (S) Donny Cates (A/CA) Ryan Stegman

Smurfs Take> If I am completely honest I don’t know if I like Carnage or not. I have been a long time Spiderman fan, Venom has improved and was great back in the day. Then you add his cranky, pissed off, crazed cousin because everyone really wanted an evil symbiote. This title has started to be like the Star Trek movies where only the even ones were any good. The last Carnage series was good and showed promise and I hope that continues.

Dceased 4Dceased #4> The Daily Planet has become a beacon of hope for the living as the Anti-Life Equation sweeps the planet. What’s left of the Justice League have begun to gather there, bringing survivors and family alike. But the city is being overrun with infected humans…and superhumans! The war for Metropolis begins! (S) Tom Taylor (A) Trevor Hairsine, Stefano Guadiano (CA) Andy Kubert

Smurfs Take> Great story so far and love the intensity! And is that Sgt. Rock on the cover? Oh hell yeah!

sea of stars 2Sea of Stars #2> “LOST IN THE WILDS OF HEAVEN,” Part Two (of Five): Space trucker Gil’s problems have gone from bad to worse after a giant leviathan destroyed his ship and probably killed his young son, Kadyn. He’s quickly losing oxygen and-after being attacked by weird aliens-thinks he might also be losing his mind. Meanwhile, Kadyn is very much alive and having a great time with his new best buds! (S) Jason Aaron, Dennis “Hopeless” Hallum (A/CA) Stephen Green

Smurfs Take> Great fun start to a comic and something that felt right out of a classic 80’s Sci-Fi series. See how the world building goes and how long this feeling sticks around but I can see staying with this title for awhile.

house of x 2 House of X #2> Learn the truth about one of the X-Men’s closest allies…and then begin the fight for the future of mutantkind! Superstar writer Jonathan Hickman (AVENGERS, SECRET WARS, FANTASTIC FOUR) continues reshaping the X-Men’s world with Marvel Young Gun artist Pepe Larraz (EXTERMINATION, AVENGERS)! (S) Jonathan Hickman (A/CA) Pepe Larraz

Smurfs Take> Alright, you got my attention with issue one but I wasn’t expecting anything less from Hickman. Now that you have it the question is what are you going to do with it? Have the X-Books been neglected for too long?

sinestro 1Sinestro Year of the Villain #1> As the universe tilts towards doom, great forces awake in an effort to stop Lex Luthor’s mad plans. Dispatching Sinestro, Luthor sends the former Green Lantern to bring these old gods under control or destroy them before they reach Earth. Now, wielding the power of the ultraviolet spectrum, Sinestro finds his new foes even more dangerous and perplexing than he expected, when realizes any damage he inflicts is immediately repaired. (S) Mark Russell (A/CA) Brandon Peterson

Smurfs Take> I miss Sinestro having his own title and maybe I’m being a little nostalgic or really getting into the whole villain take over thing but really excited for this book. There are just some villains that are so well crafted that you can’t help but love them and Sinestro is one of them (right up there with Black Adam and Black Manta).
