#NewComicsday Neither rain, nor zombie apocalypse, nor blizzard shall keep us from the new titles hitting shelves today. There is no way you can go into a four day weekend without something to read and Smurf is here to help you jump start your decisions. The #Top5 are sponsored by All C’s Collectibles, travel safe and enjoy your Thanksgiving.
Crow Hark the Herald #1> Every year, a group of six people gather for Christmas in a cabin in the far North Woods of Wisconsin. But this isn’t your average bickering nuclear family-these are six of the most prolific killers in North America.
Now, last year’s sins have risen from the grave, ready to deliver the gift of revenge. Guided by the Crow, Cecilia Rite will give six psychos a holiday hammer party. (S) Tim Seeley (A) Meredith Laxton (CA) Tim Seeley
Smurfs Take> This looks amazing and I’m little sad it’s only a one-shot. I have really been enjoying what IDW has produced the last few months and this is something I could easily see as a movie but excited for what I know will be an epic read.
Tales from the Dark Multiverse Infinite Crisis #1> DC’s mega-event “Infinite Crisis” saw the destruction of the Trinity, the rise of Alexander Luthor and Superboy-Prime, and the rebirth of the Multiverse…but it all started with Ted Kord, the Blue Beetle, who saw it all coming and died with secrets that could’ve saved the world. But…things happened differently in the Dark Multiverse! Not only does Blue Beetle survive- he thrives! And after killing Maxwell Lord himself, Ted sets off a chain of events that irreversibly alters the lives of the Justice League and his best friend, Booster Gold. In trying to prevent a crisis, Blue Beetle becomes the Crisis…and the Dark Multiverse will never be the same. (S) James TynionIV (A) Aaron Lopresti, Matt Ryan (CA) Lee Weeks
Smurfs Take> If there is one thing I love the most about Infinite Crisis and it’s Blue Beetle getting smoked. Something no one expected and set the tone for a great read and story. Max Lord was such a bastard! What DC does extremely well is its Else World stories and that’s kind of what we have here with the Dark Multiverse. Brilliant idea and a great way to explore some of the what if and I for one am curious what the Beetle could have done.
Fantastic Four Negative Zone #1> One of Reed Richards’ greatest discoveries is the extradimensional Negative Zone that exists parallel to our own universe. But now, an experiment that Reed began many years ago has come back to roost-and the Fantastic Four will once more have to venture into this hostile expanse in order to put things right!
Plus! Ryan North and Steve Uy bring you the first adventure of those bizarre new heroes in the Baxter Building, the Fantastix!
Rated T (S) Mike Carey, Ryan North (A) Stefano Caselli, Steve Uy (CA) Kim Jacinto
Smurfs Take> I am anxious to start this story and I’m not sure if it’s because the FF have just been away and in need of a good story or getting to deal with the Negative Zone. The FF hold a special space in the heart and collection but over time the stories were becoming more miss than hit. So when Marvel shelved the title I think it was a good call and since their return have been slowly ramping back up. This could be the story that finally puts Marvels first family back in front.
Witchfinder Reign of Darkness #1> Sir Edward Grey takes on London’s most famous serial killer! But he’s the only one who thinks Jack the Ripper’s murders have an occult purpose. When Scotland Yard turns its back on him, Grey finds an ally in American occult adventurer Sarah Jewell. But the forces allied against their investigation are more powerful than either one of them imagines! (S) Mike Mignola, Chris Roberson (A/CA) Christopher Mitten
Smurfs Take> I know it’s not Hellboy but I do love Mignolas writing as much as his art work. The first series of Witchfinder was a solid story; it’s out in trade today as well. What I enjoy the most is the backdrop it really has a unique feel when you’re reading it and when I heard they were going to do this story I couldn’t wait.
East of West #44> “CONQUEST”
All the great Nations of man have fallen. Witness the rise of Babylon. (S) Jonathan Hickman (A/CA) Nick Dragotta
Smurfs Take> EAST OF WEST IS BADASS!
