Batman Curse of the White Knight #5> The GTO struggles to forgive Batman for his behavior on the tails of tragedy, but a promising path forward comes into focus when he uncovers a monumental clue about the mystery of Gotham’s ancestral curse. It may prove too little too late, as Azrael breaks free of Ruth’s mandate and unleashes a radical new reign of terror over the city and its competing super-criminals. Smurfs Take> Title of the year for me right here! Love the series and what Sean Murphy has done with his unique style and take on Batman.
Spider-Man 2099 #1> Miguel O’Hara is a rising star at Alchemax, but his world is about to come crashing down. The future of the Marvel Universe is about to die and the world needs a hero. As Miguel faces a destiny he’s tried to run from all his life, the secrets of 2099 begin to unravel here. (S) Nick Spencer (A) Jose Carlos Silva (CA) Viktor Bogdanovic
Smurfs Take> I never thought I would see a return of the 2099 series let’s get that straight. I am not completely sold on the new cross over event for this. That said I love that they are trying with this character again. His appearances in the main Spiderman title as a tease and always wanted more for this undervalued character. Love the origin story love the costume love the character and probably the only 2099 title I will pick up.
Harley Quinn Villain of the Year #1> Harley Quinn hosts “Villainy’s Biggest Night” as the DCU’s most dastardly gather at the Hall of Doom to do what they do best-congratulate themselves! Annihilation Scourge Beta Ray Bill #1> The Scourge has arrived! As the local population becomes infected, will Beta Ray Bill be able to fight back the horde and save the innocents-or are they already lost? Overwhelmed, will Bill himself fall victim to the Annihilation wave?! (S) Michael Moreci (A) Alberto Alburquerque (CA) Josemaria Casanovas
Smurfs Take> I don’t think it’s a wave of nostalgia hitting me this week. Granted it may look like that but I have always loved this character and is worthy of his own title. Secretly I have always wished he would be permanent member of the Guardians but that hasn’t gone to plan. I believe Marvel really doesn’t know what to do with him and can only hope this is the start to something much bigger for him.
Tales From The Dark Multiverse The Judas Contract> The Dark Multiverse reimagines one of the most renowned stories in comic book history, “The Judas Contract”! In this shocking tale, Terra’s betrayal starts not with the Teen Titans, but with Deathstroke himself! Now, free from her mentor’s influence and supercharged by the same serum that turned Slade Wilson into the world’s deadliest man, Tara Markov will forge a new destiny, written in the Teen Titans’ blood. (S) Kyle Higgins, Matt Groom (A) Tom Raney (CA) Lee Weeks
Smurfs Take> One of the greatest Titans stories ever told! Never saw it coming and was fairly dark at the time so this should be amazing. All of these have been great stories so far as DC takes us on a romp through the Elseworlds darker version and a must read for any comic fan.
