#NewComicsday but still running a little lean from the publishers but I will take quality over quantity any time. Marvel is still very limited on what they are putting out there while DC is dominating the shelves. All C’s is our sponsor and has the shelves already loaded with these titles and more.
Dark Nights Death Metal #1> Get ready for the earth-shattering encore! The legendary team behind Dark Nights: Metal and Batman: Last Knight on Earth take center stage and reunite for one last tour. When the Earth is enveloped by the Dark Multiverse, the Justice League is at the mercy of the Batman Who Laughs. Humanity struggles to survive in a hellish landscape twisted beyond recognition, while Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman have all been separated and fight to survive. Unleash the beast and let the head banging begin! (S) Scott Snyder (A) Jonathan Glapion (A/CA) Greg Capullo
Smurfs Take> I’m surprised and stunned all at once with another trip to the Dark Universe. I really didn’t think there was more to explore but I do want to see what other dark twists they can add at this point. Snyder does excel as a story teller no doubt and has yet to disappoint.
Strange Adventures #2> What is the truth about Adam Strange? When an activist who publicly accused him of war crimes ends up dead, the public begins to doubt Strange’s stories about his adventures on the planet Rann-and he’s even starting to doubt himself. It’s going to take a special investigator to get the truth, and he’s going to have to tear apart Adam Strange’s life and reputation to do it.
A special miniseries set on two worlds, it takes two artists to bring Strange Adventures to life. Mitch Gerads tackles the earthbound sequences, while Doc Shaner launches us into space. And it’s all written by Tom King, the Eisner Award-winning writer who brought you Mister Miracle, Omega Men, and Sheriff of Babylon. (S) Tom King (A) Mitch Gerads
Smurfs Take> The first issue was a big hit for me much to my surprise. I know it had been awhile since last we had seen Adam Strange, but I wasn’t expecting that level of story. I have to say I’m digging the new Black Label stuff and in true DC form taking a “B” lister and creating a very compelling story. Sad it’s only two issues so I expect them to blow the doors off with this issue.
Walter Simonson Mighty Thor Artisan Edition TP> WALTER SIMONSON’S MIGHTY THOR ARTISAN EDITION, collecting seven complete issues of Simonson’s Transcendent run on The Mighty Thor, including the groundbreaking first story arc that introduced Beta Ray Bill. Each page has been scanned from the original art in Walter Simonson’s personal archives, ensuring that these stories are presented as closely as possible to the actual hand-drawn artwork. While appearing to be in black and white, these pages have been meticulously scanned in color so all the subtle nuances of the art are clearly visible, from blue pencil notations, gradients in the ink, plus more-all those wonderful things that make original art unique and beautiful. This is the best of both worlds-an art book that is also a thrilling comic book! (S) Walter Simonson (A/CA) Walter Simonson
Smurfs Take> Regarded as one of the best Thor runs in the titles history! It doesn’t get much better than that, many have tried and have come very close but just miss what Simonson achieved. This for sure will be added to my must have trades and for them to use the actual pages seems like an added treat to me. It’s like a behind the scenes for comics on one of Marvels greatest stories ever told.
Superman #22> The battle for the United Planets hits a fever pitch as the galactic conqueror Mongul beats some of the rulers of the galaxy to death and then heads for Earth! The only thing standing in his way? Superman! Meanwhile, back on Earth, the truth that Clark Kent is Superman continues to spiral out all over the world, and now the Daily Planet’s competition is gunning for his wife, Lois Lane! (S) Brian Michael Bendis (A/CA) Joe Prado, Ivan Reis
Smurfs Take> I can’t believe I’m still reading a Superman title. Bendis has been brilliant and absolutely on point with this story…with this title. I have no idea where it’s going, and I don’t care since I have continued to enjoy the ride. I’m in till the end at this point.
Green Lantern Season 2 #4> Guest-starring the Flash, as the Emerald Warrior and Fastest Man Alive put their friendship on the line to fight for their lives on a world changed beyond all recognition! Is the world ready for an attack by ptechnodactyls and the ancient super-beings known as “the Golden Giants of Neo-Pangaea”? (S) Grant Morrison (A/CA) Liam Sharp
