Smurfs High Five

#NewComicsDay is here with a little lighter of a week for titles buton the bright side we starting dive deeper into some of the big stories. Also a great week for a few trades and a few reprints if you missed out on a couple of stories. Smurf’s High Five is sponsored by All C’s Collectibles who can offer you a hold slot and delivery service all in one, now on to the count down.

Batman-Cv96-guillem-marchBatman #96> Reeling from the effects of the worst Joker toxin attack ever, Batman is on the run through Gotham City, pursued by the dark shadows and voices that haunt his past and present! As the Joker’s plan materializes, the only person who can save Batman from the brink of true madness…is Harley Quinn?! Plus, who is the mysterious new figure known as Clownhunter? (S) James Tynion (A) Jorge Jimenez

Smurfs Take> It’s Joker war! Let the chaos begin! I have no doubt DC is going to pull out all the stops for this story with a couple of good twists thrown in for good measure. One of the things I look the most forward are moments like this, you never know just who is going to help out the bat.

DCeased-Dead-Planet-2Deceased: Dead Planet #2> The sequel to the bestselling miniseries continues! The Justice League is trapped on Earth, and they’ve discovered that life still survives on this dead planet! Survival is precarious, though-and with billions of infected still roaming the surface, death lies around every corner. But it isn’t just the anti-living our heroes have to worry about, because John Constantine, Swamp Thing, and Zatanna are about to discover another evil growing…(S) Tom Taylor (A) Trevor Hairsine

Smurfs Take> Great first issue and it did not disappoint that’s for sure. I’m excited to see what comes out of this title and wonder if it can be as captivating as the last series.

Empyre 4Empyre #4> THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER…Tensions mount as the action heats up! As the attack on Wakanda intensifies, the heroes find themselves under attack from their enemies – and their allies! In a war where nobody can be fully trusted, betrayal cuts deep – as the alien invasion claims its first casualty! In this issue: The shock ending you never expected! You’ll want to frame it for your wall, True Believer! (S) Al Ewing, Dan Slott (A) Valerio Schiti (CA) Jim Cheung

Smurfs Take> It’s been a good read so far and I have enjoyed it but it’s what I expected with little deviation from that. I don’t know if it’s my need for a good story or the fact that I like a lot of the characters and want to see something come out of this that I continue to read. It doesn’t mean it wont get better or could finish strong over the last couple issues.

avengers wastelands 4Avengers of the Wastelands #4> IN THE CLUTCHES OF THE GREEN GOBLIN!
Welcome to Osborn City! THOR, ANT-MAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA and HULK JR. have fallen into the clutches of NORMAN OSBORN, a.k.a. the GREEN GOBLIN. Let’s just say, the years have not been kind to the Goblin’s psyche…A knockdown drag-out fight between the AVENGERS and the likes of ENCHANTRESS, WILD CHILD, ABSORBING MAN and more reveals the true nature of DOOM’s mission, and the hidden betrayal that may crush all hope in the Wastelands! (S) Ed Brisson (A) Jonas Scharf (CA) Juan Jose Ryp

Smurfs Take> This is why I’m reading this title! Just to see how crazy the world has become and a look at it’s effect on some of the other characters. Finally get to see a few of the other overlords is going to be a treat and I have no doubt the Goblin won’t disappoint.

Far-Sector-7Far Sector #7> On today’s agenda: a giant mech fight, transforming her consciousness into digital information, and a high-speed pursuit through an alien computer network. All with six minutes of power left. But it’s all in a day’s work for Green Lantern Jo Mullein as she comes closer to unraveling the greatest conspiracy the Green Lantern Corps has ever seen. Far Sector continues on a new bimonthly schedule. (S) N.K. Jemisin (A) Jamal Campbell

Smurfs Take> What I have really enjoyed about this series is the departure from everything we know about the Corp. and the Guardians. As much as I love Hal and all the GL lore, something new and different is always appreciated and going to the far end of the universe when they have never heard of a Green Lantern is fantastic.
