Smurfs High Five

#NewComicsDay a little lighter of a week is perfect to catch up on the stack, maybe pick up something extra or consider that trade you have been looking at. Whatever the case might be Smurf is here to get you started, what you end up walking out with is in your hands. All of this insight is sponsored by All C’s Collectibles who is paying cash for your collectable gems that you have been holding on to and ready to part with.

Strange Academy #8> Students of Strange Academy go on a perfectly normal field trip… to space… uncovering a magical artifact… with Rocket and Groot. Yep, perfectly normal. Meanwhile, WHAT IS THE RING OF DREAD?! (S) Skottie Young (A/CA) Humberto Ramos

Smurfs Take> This title has it all and has quickly become one of the few I look most forward to. If you have been holding back or waiting for some reason to pick it up you should just jump in because you are missing out on one of Marvels top tier books.

Far Sector #10> The groundbreaking sci-fi series approaches its thrilling climax! Since arriving at the City Enduring, Sojourner “Jo” Mullein has confronted an insidious conspiracy of murder and mayhem, but even this most resilient Green Lantern reaches her breaking point when she uncovers an “emotional sweatshop” producing black-market feelings for a world without them. But Jo is only too human… (S) N.K. Jemisin (A) Jamal Campbell

Smurfs Take> If all of the Future State titles have you a little out of sorts here is your chance to try something different and terrific. It’s Green Lantern but it’s not with one of the best concepts, teams, and story I could have imagined. Also the buzz around this book is picking up and there could be a lot more on the horizon that you wouldn’t want to miss out on.

Deep Beyond #1> In an underpopulated future Earth, devastated by the dire consequences of the millennium bug, the survival of mankind – and, maybe, of the planet itself – is handled by a small number of people. Talented scientists who, despite the adverse situation and the stupid feuds that continue to divide the small number of people still alive, try to understand and study what is hidden in the depths of the abyss. Something mysterious and dangerous, which could eventually cause an even worse and more destructive catastrophe!

The 100 meets LOW, with a hint of Death Stranding in the brand-new sci-fi thriller series from acclaimed creator MIRKA ANDOLFO (UNNATURAL, MERCY), teaming up with writer DAVID GOY and rising-star artist ANDREA BROCCARDO (Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, Empyre: X-Men) and colorist BARBARA NOSENZO (The Ballad of Halo Jones). (S) Mirka Andolfo, David Goy (A/CA) Andrea Broccardo

Smurfs Take> This is definitely going to hit the Sci-fi ich for the next few months. Not to mention, sea monsters….SEA MONSTERS! There is just something about stories from the deep that I love, the thought that this could just be right outside my door lends a bit of excitement to it as well.

King in Black Black Knight #1> THE BLACK KNIGHT DUELS THE KING IN BLACK!
KNULL’s ferocious assault upon earth has begun and Dane Whitman – Avenger, hero, and wielder of the mighty Ebony Blade as the BLACK KNIGHT – takes up sword and shield to defend against the unstoppable onslaught. Though the blade grants Dane incredible power so too does it consume him with a lust for violence and destruction. As the endless horde of symbiote dragons darken the skies of Shanghai, will the Black Knight overcome the growing evil within himself and join AERO and SWORD MASTER in saving the city?! And what secrets will the battle against Knull reveal about Dane’s past? (S) Simon Spurrier (A) Jesus Saiz (CA) Dan Mora

Smurfs Take> There are two characters out of the old school Avengers that I miss; Wonder Man and the Black Knight. The Knights tale is far from over but where they left him was a little bit of a disappointment but sooo excited to see his return. I know I normally don’t go in with the crossover event titles but this book has so much going for it that it’s hard to overlook it.

Immortal Hulk #43> New York City holds eight million people…and harbors one monster. A creature of chaos and anarchy, driven by rage and contempt for the structures of man. His criminal activities continue even while the beast is hidden in the skin of an ordinary human. But don’t be afraid, citizens. This radioactive disease has a cure. The U-FOES are here… and they’re going to kill the HULK. Say “thank you.” (S) Al Ewing (A) Joe Bennett (CA) Alex Ross

Smurfs Take> Constant hit with so many things going on and I love it. Complemented by the mysteries and visits of classic villains has been perfect. I just continue to want more and it never seems to be enough.

Avengers By Hickman Complete Collection TP Vol 3> Jonathan Hickman rocks the Avengers World with INFINITY! To protect their planet from greater dangers, the Avengers got bigger. But when the oldest race in the universe marks Earth for destruction, it’s time for Captain America to think grander still. As the most powerful Avengers team ever assembled heads into space, an old enemy deems their homeworld unprotected. Thanos unleashes his dark forces against Earth in search of a terrible prize, and his Black Order fires the opening shots of a galactic war that will be fought both on Earth and in deep space! As the mad Titan’s secrets are revealed, the Inhuman city of Attilan falls and the secretive Illuminati find themselves on the front line! Galactic empires will fall as Thanos’ crazed plans come to fruition! Collecting INFINITY #1-6, NEW AVENGERS (2013) #8-12 and AVENGERS (2012) #18-23. (S) Jonathan Hickman (A) Jim Cheung, More (CA) Mike Deodato

Smurfs Take>  A must have trade in my opinion and an easy way to read this massive story that was absolutely amazing. This checks so many boxes for me and focused on one of the most compelling Thanos stories so far Hickman really outdid himself with this series.
