Smurfs High Five

#NewComicsDay and what a perfect day for it. Lots on the shelf to pick up it’s all just a matter of where to start and Smurfs top 5 is here to help with that. The only thing left to figure out is what do you read first? Sponsored by All C’s Collectibles Fan Expo June 12 & 13, free to get in and loaded full of guests. Now we got five stacked high ready to fly:

Crossover #6> “KIDS LOVE CHAINS,” Part Six-The dome has been shattered. The world is burning. Everything has come undone. DO NOT miss the SHOCKING conclusion to the blockbuster final chapter of “KIDS LOVE CHAINS!” (S) Donny Cates (A/CA) Geoff Shaw, Dee Cunniffe, John J. Hill

Smurfs Take> Talk about blowing the roof off. This series has had everything in it and I couldn’t be happier. Great read all the way through that was just fun, fresh, and driven home by the art and story.

Beta Ray Bill #2> VALHALLA IS CALLING, BETA RAY BILL!
Bill goes hunting for Odin, still desperate to resurrect his lost hammer Stormbreaker – but the former King of Asgard is far from his glory days. Stormbreaker is never coming back…but there is one place where Beta Ray Bill could restore his full powers. The All-Father of nothing offers the Korbinite a path to immortality – at a price not even a god can afford. Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer’s off-the-rails tale of cosmic vengeance and barroom breakdowns continues here! (S) Daniel Warren Johnson (A/CA) Daniel Warren Johnson

Smurfs Take> I just love Beta Ray, there is soothing about the character that is just so appealing.

Star Wars Darth Vader #11> EXEGOL UNLEASHED!
As punishment for his rebellion, DARTH VADER was broken by THE EMPEROR, his limbs shattered, forbidden to use THE FORCE. But after surviving OCHI OF BESTOON, THE EYE OF WEBBISH BOGG and the horrors of THE RED NEBULA, Vader stands on the verge of uncovering the Emperor’s greatest secrets. But will the revelations on EXEGOL empower Vader – or his master? And what new doom awaits LUKE SKYWALKER as a result?

Smurfs Take> The exploration of Vader has been great, all of the different looks into his past at different times has been compelling but nothing compares to this trip through the dark side.

Robin #1> After learning of the deadly League of Lazarus tournament, Damian Wayne has a new mission: winning the tournament to prove he is the greatest fighter in the DC Universe! But first he must find the secret island where it’s all going down! This brand-new solo Robin series will force Damian Wayne to find his own path away from both sides of his family! New mysteries! New supporting cast! First appearances of new characters! And lots of fights! (S) Joshua Williamson (A) Gleb Melnikov

Smurfs Take> When they killed Damian, he went down like a champ, putting up the good fight as the last man standing. Figured that was the last we would see of him and it would haunt Batman for the rest of his days….yeah I should have known better. Over the years there have been some interesting approaches to the character that have been alright but have been overshadowed by his crappy attitude. I like the idea of going back to his roots and starting from scratch to find his own way. A chance to expand and improve the character past the one dimension that he seems to fall into.

Silk #2>  Someone is killing gangsters in Queens, leaving behind a trail of blood and…fur? Now Silk has to protect these low-level criminals from a bigger, nastier villain. Can she use her sleuthing skills to figure out who’s behind it all and stop them before it’s too late? (S) Maurene Goo (A) Takeshi Miyazawa (CA) Inhyuk Lee
