Meat and Potatoes

The new “Mortal Kombat” is in theaters this week and already has three strikes against it in my book. #1 It is a Reboot, and Reboots hardly ever work. #2 it has hardly any recognizable actors in it and #3 when has a video game movie ever been halfway decent? So, I am going in not expecting much but at least hoping for some good fight scenes, I hope.

*The MEAT* The story is *Missing* just absolutely missing. I mean you cannot try to make sense of this story. All I ask for is to keep my interests in the characters and their outcomes just a little bit. And unfortunately, it cannot do that.

*The POTATOES* The acting is *Horrendous* I’m sorry I know I seem to be a tad bit harsh here, but it really was THAT BAD.

*The VERDICT* When it comes to video game movies, I can say “Mortal Kombat” is right up there with the rest of them and that is *Not Good*. The fights and special effects were subpar to say the least, even Goro looked like a victim of a cheap TV show budget. Now there are some good shout-outs to the video games that might make a few fans happy, but there is no way I can recommend this film for the theater. Make sure to watch it from home, so you can turn the channel.
