Fantastic Four Life Story #1> In the tradition of SPIDER-MAN: LIFE STORY, and in celebration of the FF’s 60th Anniversary, comes this series setting the lives of the fabulous foursome in real time across the years! Amid the backdrop of the Cold War and the Space Race, a terrible accident gives the Fantastic Four great powers, a terrible secret, and entangles them in the history of their planet. Mark Russell (A) Sean Izaakse (CA) Daniel Acuna
Smurfs Take> Back to the basics. This could be what the Fantastic Four needs to being one of Marvels top teams and titles again. Continuing with their road to 60 Marvel takes us back with a fresh look at the team. I’m not sure what to expect and I think that’s building into the excitement for me after reading Spider-Man last week. I’m not sure what the overall plan is for the MCU or where this is going to fit in but willing to give it a look.
Wonder Girl #1> The story of Yara Flor starts here! Raised in the far-off land of Boise, Idaho, Yara Flor has always felt something was missing from her life—and now she is headed to Brazil to find it. Little does she know her arrival will set off a series of events that will change the world of Wonder Woman forever. Her return has been prophesied, and with that prophecy comes the undivided attention of benevolent gods from pantheons beyond. Danger lurks around every corner, but is this young hero ready for her journey? Find out in a debut issue you absolutely cannot miss! Spinning out of the bestselling Future State: Wonder Woman, acclaimed writer/artist Joëlle Jones makes a triumphant return to the character to officially introduce her into the DC Universe. You think you know Wonder Girl, but you have never seen her like this! (S) Joelle Jones (A) Joelle Jones
Smurfs Take> There have been a few Wonder Girls at this point and I don’t know if I’m ready for another one. Would it have been easier to use one of them instead of creating a whole new character? I want to see where they take this because it has the potential to be something great I just hope it’s not at the price of the Wonder Woman character. Lot’s of variant covers for this title, so be on the lookout for that.
Stray Dogs #4> PENULTIMATE ISSUE!
Time is running out. Hackles are raised, tensions are high, and nobody’s had a thing to eat. When the Master’s away, the dogs will drag everything awful into the light. And the awful truth is nobody’s coming to set them free. (S) Tony Fleecs (CA) Tony Fleecs (A/CA) Trish Forstner
Smurfs Take> Great story…just great. So pulled into this world and there is so much more to it than just “talking dogs”. I know that’s been a hang up for some but you’re truly missing out if that’s getting in your way of reading this title.
Immortal Hulk Time of Monsters #1> AL EWING AND ALEX PAKNADEL INTRODUCE THE ORIGINAL HULK! Ten thousand years ago, something green and glowing comes to poison the ancient ground of the Fertile Crescent – and the hearts of its people. One boy is left to bear the consequences – and, for the first time…to open THE GREEN DOOR. Plus: Bruce Banner faces a challenge unlike any he’s seen before as writer David Vaughan makes his Marvel debut! (S) Al Ewing, More (A) More (A/CA) Juan Ferreyra
Smurfs Take> Monsters, monsters, and more monsters; I will take em all! I love that Marvel has just embraced the dark monster aspect of the Hulk and has explored so many different directions with it. This looks great!
Shang-Chi #1> SHANG-CHI VS. THE MARVEL UNIVERSE!
Shang-Chi and his family are back! And this time, they’re colliding head-to-head with the Marvel Universe’s biggest heroes! Shang-Chi has finally taken his place as the leader of the Five Weapons Society. But using an evil secret organization as a force for good won’t be easy. And it’s about to get a lot harder when Shang-Chi’s fellow super heroes, like the Amazing Spider-Man, start to see him as the bad guy! Gene Luen Yang and Dike Ruan return to bring you the next chapter of this Marvel legend! (S) Gene Luen Yang (A) Dike Ruan (CA) Leinil Francis Yu
Smurfs Take> Still riding this out, and to be honest the character didn’t gain or lose any ground with me. With his long absence from the Marvel U you really ask yourself if we need the character. What’s the impact and more importantly what are the stories to tell. Will we see a clash with the Hand? What about some of the other clans that have just been shelved over the years? I hope the character isn’t locked to just one location and they take advantage of just how large Shang-Chi can be.
