Meat and Potatoes

Quietly a medieval Knight movie comes out of nowhere and gets pretty good reviews? Well, forget “Jungle Cruise” this week because I must go see this real cool looking and highly praised movie called “The Green Knight”.

*The MEAT* The story is based on the ancient poem, “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight” a 14th century Arthurian tale. It’s sort of like a Homer’s “Odyssey” in King Arthur’s time. But the overall lesson is a hard one to learn for the main character and it will come with lots of layers to delve into, which makes it a *Captivating* story to say the least.

*The POTATOES* The acting is all Dev Patel here. And he does a *Marvelous Job* at that. I was skeptical at first if he could lead a movie that was basically all him. But I will give him credit because he pulls it off and then some. Hard to believe it is the same actor from “Slumdog Millionaire”.

*The VERDICT* First, “The Green Knight” is not an Action movie at all, don’t go to it expecting big fights and epic battles. No, it is more of an Art house film with a message and meaning that requires some thought and even debate. Secondly, it is slow and plays out very long, but that is so it can pull you in deeper as it will engulf you with its colors and cinematography that play on your mind as much as the dialogue does. You actually can *Feel this Movie* so, I do recommend this film for the theaters because it is one of those films that requires all your attention and focus. Any distractions might just cause you to lose interest and fall out of the movie’s grasp and that would be unfortunate.
