Smurfs High Five

#NewComicsDay its a week full of some fresh new titles including a new Hellboy and marking the 60th anniversary of the Fantastic Four. Smurf has his starting point for titles and thoughts on them including a new trade paperback you don’t want to miss out on. If you don’t have the space for all of the new hot items our sponsor All C’s Collectibles is offering cash for your unwanted collectables. Now we got five stacked high ready to fly:

Primordial #1> Mind-bending sci-fi collides with Cold War thriller in this six-issue miniseries by the bestselling and Eisner-winning creative team behind GIDEON FALLS! In 1957, the USSR launched the dog, Laika, into Earth’s orbit. Two years later, the USA responded with two monkeys, Able and Baker. These animals never returned. But, unbeknownst to everyone, they did not die in orbit…they were taken. And now they are coming home. (S) Jeff Lemire (A) Andrea Sorrentino

Smurfs Take> Really on the Jeff Lemire band wagon right now having just finished reading Sweet Tooth and watching the series twice now on Netflix. He really knows how to set a story and gives you all of the right feels accompanied with the deep thoughts that come with them. I’m excited to dive into this given the time period and the concept, looks specular.

Joker #7> Très bien-the Joker visits Paris! Gordon must get to Joker ahead of the Sampsons, but has the Clown Prince set an ambush for his pursuers? Plus, Barbara fights for her life after her introduction to the new Talon! Punchline backup: The search for Kelly Ness-Punchline’s former friend who is also in Blackgate Penitentiary-begins. (S) Sam Johns (A) Sweeney Boo, Guillem March

Smurfs Take> Best Batman non Batman book on the shelf.

Eternals Thanos Rises #1> Eternals are created, not born. They have families, but their families make no new children. It’s simply not what Eternals do. Some of them thought they could find a way to change that and believed it would be for the best. They were terribly, terribly wrong. (S) Kieron Gillen (A) Dustin Weaver (CA) Esad Ribic

Smurfs Take> Always down for more Thanos stories and a great chance to expand on the Eternals before the film hits. This could be the next epic cosmic story looking at the creative team behind it and maybe at the end of it I will like the Eternals.

Star Wars Bounty Hunters Boushh #1> THE SECRET ORIGIN OF BOUSHH! A “WAR OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS” TIE-IN!
Before PRINCESS LEIA acquired his armor to infiltrate Jabba the Hutt’s palace, BOUSHH roamed the galaxy as a bounty hunter. He and his team of lethal warriors were exiled from their homeworld; but what horrible event from Boushh’s past doomed them all to wander with no hope of ever returning? Desperate to survive, Boushh takes a suspicious job from a shadowy organization to assassinate DOMINA TAGGE, the leader of the powerful Tagge Family – a galactic dynasty stretching back countless generations. But Domina is the most dangerous enemy Boushh has ever faced, and the desperate exile has the most difficult choice of his life to make! ALYSSA WONG and David Balde n’S one-shot is the third of four action-packed “War of the Bounty Hunters” tie-ins about the criminal underworld’s most notorious hunters and scoundrels, all told by the best STAR WARS writers and illustrators in the galaxy. (S) Alyssa Wong (A) David Baldeon (CA) Mahmud Asrar

Smurfs Take> I was wondering if we would get around to this character. I remember reading about him in the books and how they lightly touched on the story behind Leia getting his armor. Felt like such a wasted opportunity and happy they are circling around to expand on him and fingers crossed we get to see more of what happened to him.

Iron Man #12> Iron Man is a long way from Earth. He now stands on the decks of Galactus’ worldship, Taa II, in deep space, and though he doesn’t have to face the World-Eater himself this time around, he certainly has to deal with the ship’s most brutal and lethal defenses. If he manages to survive those, it’s only a matter of moments before Tony Stark will have to turn around and confront his fiercest foe of recent memory, KORVAC. Tony must also face the mad android’s zealous disciples, all of whom have a personal ax to grind with the Golden Avenger-THE CONTROLLER, UNICORN, BLIZZARD and their most recent addition, a robotically enslaved ORIGINAL HUMAN TORCH. This showdown has been a long time coming, but Tony wasn’t counting on five-against-one odds. Tony needs backup. Tony could use some friends. (S) Christopher Cantwell (A) Angel Unzueta (CA) Alex Ross

Smurfs Take> Reading this makes me want to break out my older issues. Great read!

Stray Dogs TP> It’s scary being the new dog.
In this suspenseful new series, readers meet Sophie, a dog who can’t remember what happened. She doesn’t know how she ended up in this house. She doesn’t recognize any of these other dogs. She knows something terrible happened, but she just…can’t…recall…Wait! Where’s her lady? Now Sophie has to figure out where she is, what’s happening, and how she’s going to survive this. They say there’s no such thing as a bad dog-just bad owners.
STRAY DOGS is a heartbreakingly adorable suspense thriller by My Little Pony comic artists TONY FLEECS and TRISH FORSTNER. It’s Lady and the Tramp meets Silence of the Lambs.
COLLECTS STRAY DOGS #1-5 (S) Tony Fleecs (A) Brad Simpson, Tone Rodriguez (CA) Tony Fleecs (A/CA) Trish Forstner

Smurfs Take> Surprise hit for me this year that exploded in popularity overnight. Great chance to read one of the most unique stories all at once, a must have for any collector.
