#CLRW it’s a new year, a new decade and I approach it with a wide-eyed hopefulness of things to come. It’s true most of the time you can find me at home plowing through old vinyl, expanding and reorganizing my collection but I do spend a considerable amount of time with new a current music. The down time has served me well as I have mentioned before expanding how movies have been complemented by the right music (more on that to come in future posts). It’s helped with the class I’m holding on the comparison and impact of music from the 60’s and 70’s on today’s artists.
One of the newer groups that I have been focused on for the last few years now and with a bullet is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites. The use of instruments, their sound unique yet still drawing on so many influences of folk, rock, blues, and big band. I know I have talked about them in past post’s and frequently post from their impressive catalog; so please indulge me just one more time. It’s a fantastic song already but doing it live in South Africa complemented by Baaba Maal it takes on a whole new direction and feel. I’m the Listener and for todays Classic Rock Wednesday…Thursday edition I give you Mumford & Sons There Will Be Time. Welcome to the new year.
